To Survive Plague

Earlier in the week when I nabbed Miss Lexi up to do a photo shoot, I actually brought along two outfits.

I wasn't going to waste the opportunity.  The sun was shining. We were in a beautiful park. And I had a fabulous photographer (and friend) by my side to make me look glamorous.

Yes, I call that glamorous.
And it's a good thing she was willing to take pictures of two outfits.
Because although that day I was feeling like this:

Today, I'm feeling more like this:

It feels as though I've been hit by a bus. I'm achy and congested and exhausted.
I don't think it's the outfit I'm posting that's made me feel this way...
Though, the heavy mix of textiles and drab colors make it one that I'm not super excited about.
I'm pretty sure it's just some sort of 24 hour plague that I've contracted.  It seems like there are sick people all around me right now.

But despite this minor case of Black Death, I'm stoked because while I'm lounging in my jammies today, I have pretty pictures to share!

Have you been hit by the sicknesses that seem to be EVERYWHERE right now?

To Make a Confession

I am the person for whom cheesy pop music is created.

View From the Top

I unashamedly admit to LOVING Britney's new song.
(7 days until the video!!!)
I listen to pop radio nearly as much as I listen to NPR.

...and I kinda plan to see the Bieber movie in 3D.
Soon.

100th!!!!!!!!

Right. At. This. Very. Moment. You, along with 100{!!} followers are reading the 100th post on Leaving the House in THIS?!?

Woo Hoo! Celebration Time!

*This picture in no way indicates that I endorse smoking cigarettes. {Unless you're 100 years old, and then I say, "smoke 'em if you got 'em!"}  It is just further evidence that I have a silly sense of humor*

I'm sure you aren't as excited about all these "100" milestones as I am... soooooo, I thought I'd give you your own reason to celebrate.

As promised I'm commemorating all the fun this blog has brought into my life by hosting a giveaway for you!
I chose this delicate and chic Silver Hammered Heart Necklace from The Chartreuse Room because this lovely little shop was where I made my first ever Etsy purchase.
Awwww. Nostalgic.

Isn't it pretty?
Don't you just want to wear it right now?
Me TOO!
That's how I knew it was the perfect way to say, "Thank You."
After all, without you the reader, there is no blog.

Here's the lowdown on how to "enter":
This Giveaway is open to all Google followers (new & old) of Leaving The House in THIS?!?
All you have to do is drop me a little comment below letting me know that you'd like to be included in the celebration.  Make sure to include your email if it isn't available on your "follower" profile.  And just to add some randomness fun, you should tell me your favorite number between 1-100 too.
I'll close it all up at 11pm EST {because that's when we usually go to bed} on Sunday, February 20th.  The winner will be picked using random.org and announced Monday, February 21st.
Easy peasy, right?

Good Luck and may the most stylish reader win!!!

To Repeat "Better Late Than Never"... Over and Over

I wanted to fully participate in Everybody, Every wear so badly.
You know, by spend the afternoon visiting the blogs of all the participants and enjoying the variety!
Better Late Than Never

But life got super busy today and I didn't plan ahead very well.
So, I'm linking up at the last possible minute.
BUT better late than never, right?

Anywhoooo, I wouldn't change a minute of my day.
I got a chance to be the star of a photo shoot with the beautiful Lexi.
Plus, I got to have dinner with another sweet friend.

This is me freeeeeeeeeeeeeezing while Lexi took my picture.
It was chil-lee.

Better Late Than Never

Don't let the sunshine fool you. We were freezing our bums off.

Gap Boyfriend Jeans; Striped Top
Brown Boots; Army Green Blazer
Silver Hoop Earrings; Blue Square Scarf

Sometimes you gotta suffer for style though, right?

Wait, is that true or have I been lied to.
Tell me, are you willing to suffer for style?

To Win Some and Lose Some

It was bound to happen... when you break rules sometimes it pays off big and you forge new ground other times you learn why the rules were instituted in the first place.

Rule Broken: Sweater Vest AND Cardigan
Breaking this rule proved to me that it is A-OK to layer two sweaters without looking bulky and stay-puft-marshmellowy.

IMG_1427

Basically, this part of the outfit, I loved.
I would argue that from the waste up, this look is a winner.  But things go horribly wrong once you head South of my ribcage.
IMG_1431

Rule Broken: Cropped Sweater Vest AND low rise trouser.
Fail.
Rule Broken: Dress Pants AND slipper-like shoes (instead of something with SOME kind of heel).
Fail.
Now, I'm not sure either of these rules that I've "broken" are actually codified.  But I believe the picture I am submitting here, for your review, is pretty good evidence that they should be. Soon.

I guess even in personal style you win some and you lose some.

Are you breaking any rules today?
