To Work Smart not Hard

You may remember a week or so ago, when I ventured out to take outfit photos and forgot my camera's memory card.  It turned into a real "ah ha" moment, yadda yadda yadda.

Well, today I ventured out to take outfit pictures and forgot my camera.

I didn't throw a tantrum, but I didn't turn around either.  Today, after realizing my mistake, I continued on with the day's plans.  Those plans included filling the car with gas and visiting not just one but two grocery stores in the juuuuuuust above freezing rain (translation: my hair was a mess and I was cold, wet and tired).  Now, I'm not typically one to throw in the towel and I've got a plucky, can do type of attitude.  But, I also have my limits. Today, I decided to work smart and not hard.

These paragraphs have been my way of easing into admitting that there are no outfit pictures to post today but I'm still counting the outfit as one of my thirty.

Here's how I intend to get around it.
I wore this jacket:

Over this turtleneck:

With this skirt:

And these shoes:

As far as accessories go, I wore a python-esque skinny belt from Charlotte Russe, some heather grey tights, big gold earrings and a smile.

I'm not going to lie.  It looked super cute.  Of course, I tend to be incredibly humble, so you might have actually found it to be absolutely adorable, life alteringly inspiring or perhaps even your favorite look ev-ah.  But, I'm not going to put words in your mouth. I'm just saying I looked good.
Too bad you missed it.

On the bright side (and isn't there always a bright side?) since I didn't get pictures today, I intend to wear this outfit again some day long after the 30 for 30 challenge is over and play it off like it's a brand new creation.   You should go ahead and stick around to watch me do it.

To Be Caught By Surprise

What's up, you guys?  Welcome to casual Friday!!

IMG_1407

For the sake of brevity, "Casual Friday" = jeans + sneakers
I'd share the entire policy I formulated for my Stay at Home Wife Policy and Procedure Manual, but it's quite long (we're talking several pages) and I don't want to bore you.  However, rest assured that if I see myself violating procedure, I won't hesitate to write myself up.
Can you tell I'm more comfortable in a corporate environment and not quite sure to make of current employment situation?

Where did the freakin' week go?

IMG_1416

I'll tell you where it went. It went to my out-of-the-house, part time job.
I've been racking up the hours this week.  And that means I'll be bringing home the bacon come payday.
Bacon is on the approved shopping list, correct?

In other news...
I'm totally in love with this outfit.  If you're keep track, that makes two days in a row.
This whole 30 for 30 challenge is doing wonders for my personal style.
Yet ANOTHER reason to think Kendi is the bee's knees.

Caught By Surprise
Blue Plaid Shirt (similar); Striped Shirt (similar)
Gap Boyfriend Jeans (similar); Chucks

And I do.
Think Kendi is the bee's knees, that is.

To Finally Feature this Ditty

Early in the year I didn't get to post my outfit because of a big zit on my face rain storm that prevented pictures.

IMG_1388-1

The thing is I loved the outfit.
Thankfully all of its components made the 30 for 30 cut and voila!

IMG_1384

Here it is!

IMG_1389

It's a super simple outfit and I like to think it's my nod to the minimalist trend.

Yesterday's rain reminded me of the first time I wore this outfit.  But I didn't let the weather stop me this time. I'm totally falling in love with this little out of the way location to take pictures.
Caitlin, the beauty behind Waking Life, suggested finding a "go to" spot to shoot pictures.  This covered walkway is definitely on my short list for rainy days pictures!

Day Two
Victoria's Secret Brown Riding Boots (similar)
Black Flower Brooch (itsolive)

Do you follow Caitlin's advice too?
Do you have a spot or two that serve as puuuuuurfect picture locations?
Or is variety the spice of your life?

30 for 30 Picks!

Alright people, here are the pieces I've finally settled upon.

{ivory + navy sheath dress; polka dot sundress; army green blazer; camel jacket}

{red striped top; navy + grey striped top; gold top}

{purple button up; white button up; bright blue plaid button up}

{ivory turtleneck; grey wool turtleneck sweater; silky tank; black cropped sweater vest}

{brown draped cardigan; lilac cardigan; black cardigan}

{kelly green skirt; green plaid circle skirt; black pleated bottom skirt; grey wool"ish" shorts}

{wool trousers; boyfriend jeans; black skinny cords}

{black strappy heels; chucks; snowdrift booties; brown riding boots; canvas mary janes}

Lighting wasn't ideal in the old bedroom today when I was taking these shots.  I apologize.
But you get the idea, I'm hoping.
If you're super observant you'll notice that I'm missing #30.  Truth is, I've left a spot open just in case.
Is that wrong?
Now what about calling a big piece of flourless chocolate cake + a cup of coffee lunch? Is THAT wrong?
{I figured as long as I was asking your opinions...}

As of now I don't intend to add a 30th piece.  Buuuuuuuuut, one never knows, right?  It's like the boy scouts say, "Always be prepared by leaving your options open." Wait, I might not have that exactly right.  Anywhooooo.  The 30th spot is open just in case I need to attend a formal gala or the Oscars or an underwater tea party.  With a social life like mine you just never know what life will throw at ya.  And I'd hate to have to go to an underwater tea party without my fancy wetsuit.

Fess up, any pieces here you think I'm going to regret?

To Get Things Started

HERE WE GO...

IMG_1337-1

It's official.  I've picked out my 30 items (I'll share them with you super soon), I've put together my excel spreadsheet to track my looks (don't judge) and outfit number one is in the can.
Wait, "in the can" sounds kind of trashy.  Let's go with, "outfit number one is in the books" instead.

Celebrate
Ann Taylor Dress: 2nd Hand (similar); Green Coat: Thrifted (similar)
Blue Tights; Black Strappy Sandals: Me Too via DSW (similar)

Rather painless actually.  I forgot how much fun this is!
Viva la Winter 2011 30 for 30!
(Hey, it's not too late to join in the festivities... I dare you)

Not too many pictures today because my neighbors walked out mid shoot.  I'm cool with total strangers seeing me tripod hop, but my neighbors?  Noooooope. That just makes me feel weird.

When was the last time you were caught taking outfit photos and scampered away with a quickness?
