Being an Icon Means Never Having to Say "I'm Sorry"

A few weeks ago I watched Oprah interview Ali MacGraw.

During the interview Oprah mentioned that "everyone" meaning many of the influential designers working today, (Michael Kors in particular was mentioned) cited MacGraw as an influence and inspiration.

I'll be honest, until that afternoon I hadn't really thought of MacGraw as a style icon.  But the photos that were shown during the episode blew me away.  I was compelled to research her further.

It didn't take too many photos to convince me.

From prepster to the ultimate boho-chic, MacGraw stopped me dead in my tracks look after look.

It sure doesn't hurt that she is drop dead gorgeous, talented and came across as totally likable when interviewed.  That qualifies her as my newest style icon.

What do you think? Is MacGraw one of your favorites?

She can definitely pull off some incredible different looks. I like the scarf (?) on her head in the second pic.

Interesting! I guess I didn't know who she was! Then again, I thought Anna Wintour was at the show today...I think the jury is still out, I'm ridiculous

Hahaha Krystal!

Anyway yeah, Ali McGraw is not one of my personal favourites, although I reallllly like the first and fourth looks here! I think I just honestly don't find her very pretty (yeah yeah, I'm a horrible person because she's such a "natural beauty" or whatever). But I can certainly imagine her 70s vibe influencing some of this year's collections!

She's not much of an actress. Check her out in "Goodbye Columbus", or "Love Story". But she's striking and always looks much younger than her age. These are very old photos of her. I hope she has aged beautifully. I think she's in her late 60's now.
